Are you the next GTG generation?
Come onto the Committee!
The Godalming Theatre Group (GTG), founded by Desmond Holt in 1964, is calling on the vibrant talents of our community!

We're committed to delivering outstanding theatre experiences for our community, showcasing everything from major musicals to autumn plays and festive pantomimes at various locations around the Godalming area.

At GTG, we embrace members of all ages, offering opportunities for performers, administrators, and backstage crew. Our Youth Theatre Group nurtures young talent aged 12 to 21, providing invaluable training and hands-on experiences of working and performing in a theatre.

Now, we're on the lookout for the next generation to lead us forward! As a registered Charity, we are obliged to refresh our committee membership regularly. As a result, we will have vacancies on the committee in September 2024 and each September after that.

Our committee, comprised of up to 10 dedicated volunteers, oversees essential roles including:
-
Finance and Accounting: Financial operations, budgeting, and financial reporting.
-
Web Design and Maintenance: Maintaining and enhancing our online presence, ensuring our website remains engaging and up-to-date.
-
Public Communications: Handling external communications, including press releases, social media management, and community outreach.
-
Marketing: Developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote our productions and attract audiences.
-
Director Experience: Bringing creative vision and leadership to our productions as experienced directors.
-
Production Management: Coordinating all aspects of production, from casting to stage design and technical elements.
-
Project Management: Overseeing specific projects within the group, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
-
Minutes Taking: Recording and documenting of the proceedings of committee meetings and publishing.
-
Safeguarding: ensuring all involved in our productions are safely looked after.
-
Committee Chairing: Providing leadership and guidance to the committee, ensuring effective decision-making and collaboration.
-
Charity Commission Compliance: Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission regulations and obligations.
This does seem like a daunting list but, with enough willing volunteers, the committee as a whole ensures all of these activities are completed. And that means we can continue to bring our community the shows they have loved for sixty years.

If you have experience, skills or simply an interest in any of these areas and are willing to learn, then we want to hear from you!

We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, disabled candidates because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at this level at GTG. While we would love to hear from anyone over 18 who might be interested, we are looking at the under 50s bracket in particular as this is where we are very under-represented at this moment in time. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results.
